I believe that the role of the counsellor is one of facilitation and collaboration. I practice from a trauma-informed, person-centered perspective including techniques from both cognitive behavioural therapy and emotion focused therapy. I believe in aiding people in developing and mastering the skills they need to flourish and make the shifts they seek in their own lives. I am interested in working alongside whole families, neurodiversity, 2SLGBTTQQIAAP folks, and people in a variety of relationship structures. I aim towards an anti-oppressive framework and welcome feedback and further learning during our work together.
I practice from a person-centred approach often incorporating aspects of EFFT (Emotion Focused Family Therapy), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). In working with clients, I draw on these approaches to support people in developing skills and strategies that are practical and creative.
In my personal life, I live in the woods on Galiano Island with my partner and our three children. I love kayaking, hiking, dancing, textile art of all kinds and reading a good book. I am a sis female, white person (she/her/hers) who was born in Northern England and emigrated to Canada with my family as a young child. I look forward to working together.
